I have spent the last week in one of the most beautiful places we camp. A rich mountain lake surrounded by water falls and rolling foothills in the upstate of South Carolina. How amazed and thankful I am that God created such a rich landscape for us to live in. We could live in a flat black and white world but in his merciful love he gave us a great pallet to live in.
The time here has done nothing but intensify my love of the water. If I were to ever be accused of an affair it would because of my love for the water. I am not particular about the type of water it could be fresh water, salt water, river, stream, or lake. They are all unique, full of majestic beauty, and I could easily find myself lost in their wonder.
I don't really even know where my love affair started it has just always been there. I just know that my heart always longs to be near the water. My favorite memories always involve some type of water. The sound of rushing water, the calming trickle of a stream, the smell of an ocean breeze, the glisten of the sun on the water, the sound of a fish playing on the top of the water all bring a sweet calmness to me.
The creatures that live in water fascinate me. The delicate balance life within. From the killer whale to the small brim they all hold a special place in the balance of life and they each emphasize the creativity and wonder of our God who created them.
I have never feared the water but rather had a great respect for majesty. Water can save a life or take a life. Water can revive a parched drought ridden land or consume miles of civilization with one mighty storm. We must have water to survive but too much water can be harmful. Too little or too much can be damaging and even deadly. The balance of life.
The same could be said for most things in life. Too much or too little can be damaging or even deadly. All the more reason to keep our minds and hearts on the matters of Jesus. He alone can guide us to keep the balance in life correct. We can never have too much Jesus but we can certainly have too much of the world. It can consume us and take us over. Selfish desires, work, politics, money, celebrities news, etc. are all distractions for the Christian. Some things are necessary but all too often we all them to consume us.
May we all keep our minds and hearts on the healing streams of Jesus, on the mighty waves to power created by God the Father, and the guiding streams of the Holy Spirit.

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
